Fusion Commercial stair balustrade from Richard Burbidge has been specified for an entrance hall staircase for award winning regional housebuilder Pentland Homes.

Located in Hythe in Kent, Howey Apartments is a three-storey development comprising eight generously sized two-bedroom apartments, overlooking the Royal Military Canal in the scenic port town Fusion Commercial stair balustrade has been installed from the ground to the second floor in the modern, shared entrance stairwell, as part of a high specification interiors scheme, designed to create an exceptionally light and spacious feel

Just two apartments remain on the market, priced from GBP265,000.

Pentland Homes is one of Kent's leading regional property developers, achieving Gold Status in the Best House category and Silver in the Best Small House Builder category at the 2006 What House Awards.

Warran Scott, Commercial Manager of Pentland Homes, said: "First impressions are vital to the success of an apartment scheme, as visitors enter through the communal areas and the staircase becomes a natural focal point.

"When it came to specifying the stair balustrade for the shared entrance hall at Howey Apartments, we needed to find a contemporary product that would complement the unique, modern feel of the apartment interiors.

"We first discovered Fusion Commercial at the Show House exhibition last year and were instantly impressed - it suited the scheme perfectly.

The availability of the product together with its ease of installation and contemporary finish put it at an immediate advantage over other balustrade systems".

Fusion Commercial combines round Oak rails and newels with metal balusters and connectors in a modern Brushed Nickel finish for a unique, highly contemporary look.

The system is compliant with UK Building Regulations and has been tested for public stairs requiring loadings of 0.74kN/M, making it ideal for shared stairwells in apartments, offices and hotels.

Claire Dowdall, Specification Product Manager for Richard Burbidge, added: "Fusion Commercial's distinctive aesthetics make an instant impact, so the system is an ideal choice for communal entrance halls within apartment buildings.

"Pentland Homes is a prestigious regional developer which has gained a reputation for constructing quality homes using only superior specifications.

Having been recognised at national industry level, we are delighted that Fusion Commercial is now included within its product portfolio for home interiors".

All timber components in the Fusion Commercial range are supplied pre-cut and pre-varnished, eliminating the need for time-consuming finishing, and the Brushed Nickel balusters are also pre-cut and ready to use.

In most cases, there is no need to modify the components other than cutting the rails and newels to length.

The system can be used for a variety of staircase configurations in commercial projects, including straight, split, cut and closed string staircases.

It is suitable for stair pitches of between 33 and 42 degrees, and handrail heights of 900mm for staircases and 1100mm for landings.

A host of technical support services are available to Fusion Commercial customers, including a technical advice helpline, an online planning service available at the website, and a Fastrack CAD CD.
