ClearShield celebrates silver anniversary
Glasstec will see Ritec celebrating the continuing success of its ClearShield glass protection and renovation system, which has its 25th anniversary this year.
Today, ClearShield is the leading, tried and tested technology that converts ordinary glass to Low-M (Low Maintenance) Glass.

However, getting the embryonic technology to a saleable product required the assistance of universities and industry and technical experts.

From 1983 to 1985, marine field tests were successfully undertaken, proving the performance of ClearShield in some of the harshest conditions.
As a result, Ritec introduced the system for use on glass in commercial and industrial buildings and other market sectors soon followed, including decorative glass, shower enclosures and residential glazing.
"25 years on, ClearShield is the most used and the most versatile glass protection technology available and has picked up several awards along the way," says Stephen Byers.
Indeed, versatility is one of the keys to ClearShield's continuing success.
ClearShield is suitable for all types of glass in many different environments.
It can be used on interior and exterior, clear and sandblasted glass and provides long-lasting protection against both organic and inorganic contaminants.
As a result, the applications for ClearShield are wide and varied, including architectural glazing, conservatory roofs, shower screens, glass on marine vessels, interior design and sandblasted glass.
ClearShield is also versatile in terms of application as it can be sprayed with manual or automatic equipment in the factory prior to installation or applied onsite for glass already installed.
"As a further health and safety benefit, ClearShield is the only technology that is non-flammable and has no hazard classification," claims Stephen Byers.
Over the years, Ritec has built a strong network of distributors including a wholly-owned subsidiary in the UK and two joint-ventures, ClearShield Technologies LLC in the USA and Bohle ClearShield in Europe.
ClearShield therefore has complete global coverage.
"ClearShield's longevity is clearly something to celebrate and reflects the product's proven track record out in the field," says Stephen Byers.
"We've come a long way since 1981 and we will continue to invest in research and development to improve this technology even further for the benefit of our many customers throughout the world".
