RIW hosted a free lunchtime technical seminar at The Architecture Centre, Bristol to give guidance to local architects and engineers in identifying common problems associated with waterproofing today's structures and how to avoid them.

The technical presentation gave an introduction to BS8102 (Code of Practice for the protection of structures against water from the ground) outlining the critical design considerations that influence the form of construction and material selection.

This included guidance on the most commonly used waterproofing materials, including reference to strengths and weaknesses of the systems, together with application methods and advice on surface preparation.
