Rixonway introduce kitchen-recycling scheme
As part of an ongoing campaign to support local authority and housing association specifiers, Rixonway has introduced a kitchen-recycling scheme.
This is the latest in a long line of initiatives adopted by Rixonway in a bid to reduce its environmental impact.
Rixonway delivers products using its own transport, with all vehicles being less than four years old and fitted with efficient engine management systems to minimise the use of diesel fuel while reducing harmful emissions (NOx CO and PM).
In an attempt to reduce the carbon emissions - which are produced as a direct result of transporting goods - Rixonway also sources 80% of its products in the UK.
The company works in partnership with Yorkshire Water in recycling 100% of its wood waste, which is used in the sewage filtration beds.
Changes have also been made to its manufacturing process including replacing plastic fittings with glue and wooden dowels.
"As one of the UK's leading social housing kitchen manufacturers, we acknowledge our environmental obligations and take our responsibilities very seriously," says Rixonway's Operations Director Nick Greenall.
"Our partnership with carbon offset service, Climate Care, is our latest environmental initiative, helping to minimize further the environmental impact of our business activities." "Through a number of provisions, we have significantly reduced landfill costs".
"We also purchase our materials from renewable and sustainable sources, which has led to us attaining Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)* Chain of Custody accreditation**." It's this integrated approach that has seen the company scoop a number of awards, including a waste minimization award from Ground Work West Yorkshire and environmentally aware training from key customer partners.
Rixonway Kitchens has just launched a new brochure on its environmental commitment.
