PCS (UK) managing director, Daryl Hopkins explains: "Before applying a new surface we had to ensure that the site was both clean and watertight.
This involved stripping the existing floor surface and shot blasting and cleaning the concrete slab before applying an epoxy-based RSL damp proof membrane".
With the right preparations in place, RSL Resuscreed 43 epoxy screed was laid which was then sealed with 2 coats of Resutop, a two pack high build solvent free epoxy coating.
This has resolved the original problem, furnishing the flight shed with a seamless and hard-wearing surface that is both resistant to chemical attack and easy to clean.
The project was completed in two 1500m2 phases, with the new floor now fully in use.
