Developer Robert Hitchins Limited has commenced the infrastructure work and access road at Stonehouse Park, an attractive canal-side development.

Up to 180 jobs are to be created at a prestigious new business development at Stonehouse, near Stroud, Gloucestershire.

Developer Robert Hitchins Limited has commenced the infrastructure work and access road - due for completion by February 2006 - at Stonehouse Park, an attractive canal-side development next to the main A419 and within one mile of the M5 Junction 13.

The 12-acre site, adjacent to the highly successful Bond's Mill commercial centre, will be Stroud's only 'Out of Town' office park.

The initial GBP3 million development, to be known as The Waterfront, will see the construction of four purpose built, two-storey office buildings, ranging from 2,700 sq ft (251 sq m) to 6,450 sq ft (599 sq m) in area, creating a total of around 18,250 sq ft (1,695 sq m) of prime office accommodation.

It is proposed to start work on the new office buildings at The Waterfront next Spring owing to the strong demand being received from potential occupiers.

Mark Durand, senior development surveyor at Robert Hitchins, commented: "Stonehouse Park is set to become one of the most prestigious business parks in the Gloucestershire area in the next few years with The Waterfront the first of several plots to be developed by us.

"We are now in discussions with a number of major companies keen to take advantage of Stonehouse Park's high-quality business environment, excellent communication links and skilled workforce.

We are confident of securing pre-lets in the near future." Ian Wills of joint agents King Sturge added: "The Stonehouse/Stroud area has already attracted many prestigious names including Renishaw plc, Unite plc, Siemens, Electrolux, Schlumberger and Astra Zeneca.

This new development will be highly attractive to organisations seeking a prestigious, strategically located base.

It is also a great opportunity for Stroud businesses to expand locally rather than having to relocate to Cheltenham or Gloucester".

The flexible open plan units, all with excellent car parking provision, are available on either a freehold or leasehold basis and will be set next to the historic Stroudwater Canal.
