Mill Place, the established business location in Bristol Road, Gloucester, owned and managed by Robert Hitchins Limited, has signed up another new tenant.
Prospect Training Services (PTS), a leading local supplier of vocational training to primarily government bodies, has committed to a seven-year lease on approximately 15,000 sq ft of space, to accommodate its new Building Skills Academy.
The Academy, a new venture for PTS, will provide training to unemployed young people and adults in skills ranging from bricklaying and plastering to plumbing and carpentry, leading to either permanent employment with a local employer, an apprenticeship or a college place.
PTS operates from a number of other locations in Gloucester, schooling individuals in subjects including IT, childcare, and hair and beauty.
As well as the vocational aspects of training, learners also receive help with life skills including literacy and numeracy, job seeking and interview techniques.
Around 100 students will be in training at Mill Place each week.
Mill Place has been chosen as a suitable site due to its central location and good transport links.
David Evans, Group Operations Manager for PTS, explained: "It is vital that the new site is easily accessible by public transport as this is how most of our trainees will get to us.
Mill Place is on main bus routes with a frequent service and is also close to our other locations in Gloucester.
It provides us with flexible accommodation to cope with the varied training we will be undertaking there.
"There is currently a minimum of 20,000 skilled staff required in the construction sector in the south-west of England over the next five years and we believe the Academy will help to address this by providing highly motivated, trained staff committed to a long-term career in the sector.
Currently 40% of the workforce is imported from outside the region, so we know there is a need".
Mill Place includes the former Jewson and Abbseal premises.
The buildings have been refurbished by Robert Hitchins to provide approximately 80,000 sq ft of industrial and warehousing space, with ancillary offices.
Just 1.5 miles from Gloucester city centre, and minutes from the inner ring road and M5 motorway links, Mill Place offers a range of units from 5,287 sq ft (491 sq m) to 19,527 sq ft (1,814 sq m) to meet the needs of small to medium sized organisations seeking space.
Adrian Rowley of letting agent Alder King added: "We are delighted to have secured Prospect Training Services as a new tenant and are in negotiation with several other organisations keen to take advantage of the versatile accommodation, competitive rents, and excellent transport links offered there.".
