Offering excellent acoustics and ease of installation Rockfon Koral and Samson ceilings were installed throughout the village in all teaching blocks.

The impact resistant Rockfon Boxer acoustic wall absorbers were used in the swimming pool area to ensure the optimal acoustic environment.

Paula Bleanch, design manager for Kajima Construction Europe (UK) is delighted with the relationship with Rockfon.

"I am pleased that Kajima took the decision to use Rockfon products and that we had the benefit of the company's input," she says.

"I am sure that anyone looking at the quality of the completed installation from the classrooms through to the pool area would agree." Darlington Education Village will accommodate 1,400 pupils of all abilities, aged from two to 19.

The Village includes modern sports facilities, dance and drama studios and a large performance hall, which opens out onto the village green area to allow for indoor and outdoor performances.

Design and Technology classrooms are fitted with industry standard equipment and there are interactive music therapy rooms.

Also included is a centre to assist vocational education and training and enhanced facilities to allow children with all abilities to use classrooms effectively.

The Education Village will also be used by the wider community for a range of courses, recreation and training.

Now completed, the Village exceeds all expectations, in terms of both functionality and design innovation.

Bleanch continues: "as one of the first schools to comply with Building Bulletin BB93 Acoustics for Schools, Education Village has been a learning curve for the whole design team and it has been of enormous benefit to have Rockfon on hand to provide us with realistic and practical advice.".
