GBP12m leisure complex has been developed in Wolverhampton community, complete with 650m2 of Rockfon acoustic wall linings.

State of the art sporting facilities have been installed so it is important that the built environment also offers the highest possible performance The new complex, which has been developed in partnership with Wolverhampton City Council and DC Leisure Management , offers a variety of facilities including a 25m six lane swimming pool, wave pool, river run, water slides and bubble pool and a parent and baby pool

There are also two steam rooms and two saunas alongside a large fitness suite and dance studio.

The new studio pool, used for swimming lessons, employs the very latest technology enabling the depth of the pool to be adjusted to suit the age of the swimmers.

Jim Phillips, Operations Manager at the new centre commented: "We are delighted with the installation of Rockfon's acoustic wall linings around the swimming pools".

"The choice of colour enabled us to blend essential acoustic performance and moisture resistance without compromising on the overall design of the pool areas".

Rockfon 40mm Polar Colour in 2400mm x 600mm modules was specified for the walls in the pool areas, where they act as highly effective noise absorbers.

Chosen for its aesthetic qualities and to create a good acoustic environment, Polar Colour offers high fire safety as well as being totally moisture resistant and non-hygroscopic.

The colour chosen at Wolverhampton was Oasis, which provides 62% diffuse light reflection - a key consideration in areas with swimming pools or water features.

Importantly Rockfon is one of the main ceiling and acoustic systems suppliers to provide enhanced corrosion resistant RockLink grids, which ensure superior longevity in the chemically laden environment of swimming and leisure pools.

Rockfon's Polar Colour acoustic tiles are available in a choice of 10 standard colours, with a wide palette of additional colours available to special requests.

They are well suited to use within the leisure, healthcare and education sectors where colour plays an important role.
