Rockfon ceiling systems meet school's requirments

A Rockfon product story

Rockfon ceiling systems have met performance criteria for a Building schools for Future programme.

Smith's Wood Sports College has been fitted out with a range of Rockfon ceiling systems.

The majority of classrooms at the school do not have standard wall to wall ceilings meaning ceiling tiles had to be installed to soffits, U-shaped bulkheads and rafts.

Rockfon Koral was specified for these areas due to its micro-textured, painted white surface which would enable high sound absorption and helped achieve the relevant NRC values.

Koral offers class A1 fire protection through its 100 per cent stone wool core.

Rockfon ceilings' stone wool core is made from diabase rock, a naturally renewable resource, which offers effective thermal, acoustic and fire protection properties.

Rockfon's Maxispan system was specified for ceilings in the circulation areas which needed to conceal an abundance of services, yet the lack of suspension height left no room for hangers.

Maxispan allowed the ceiling to be mounted directly onto the walls and is ideal for use with wide planks to give the finished ceiling a more seamless appearance than traditional grids, and also uses less grid components.

Rockfon tiles are adaptable to this type of construction, being available in a range of module sizes, and offering the facility to install both vertically and horizontally within a grid system.
