New Test for EPDM and Butyl Rubber Membranes

A Roof Investigations product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Apr 12, 2006

Roof Investigations offer test developed specifically to detect moisture from roof leaks under conductive rubber roofing materials which contain carbon black such as EPDM and Butyl Rubber.

Due to ongoing investment and continued research into new testing methods and state of the art equipment, Roof Investigations Limited are now able to offer a test developed specifically to detect moisture from roof leaks under conductive rubber roofing materials which contain carbon black such as EPDM and Butyl Rubber.

The test works on the principle of electronic impedance, a low frequency signal is generated between the test probe and the structural deck of the building under test.

The signal penetrates the roofing material.

As the moisture from the EPDM roof leaks are detected, the current increases and this increase is indicated by an increased reading on an analogue meter.

Using the principle of impedance, wet insulation/ trapped water is detected Roof Investigations Limited specialise in cost effective, comprehensive, accurate Electronic Leak Detection surveys to identify leaks on most built up roofing, Single Ply, Modified Bitumen, Asphalt roof areas, balconies, gutters, profiled metal roofs etc As part of our surveys we are also able to offer the following services:.

Thermographic Moisture Scans.
