REACH, the new chemicals policy proposed by the EU Commission will become reality in 2007.
Whilst much discussion has focussed on the costs to and impact on the chemicals industry, the Regulation, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals will also place a burden on companies which import and use chemicals to assess the risks arising from their use.
The extra costs involved in testing, together with the time taken to test and register chemicals before new substances are manufactured or imported could have serious consequences for European manufacturing.
Despite these exponential threats, many companies are not planning ahead - some are overwhelmed by the sheer complexity of the system itself.
Rapra has brought together organisations, agencies and companies which have been monitoring, influencing and reacting to the REACH legislation for many months.
In a structured briefing and forum to be held on Thursday, 16th November, they will give information and advice, concentrating on the impact on companies which use chemicals in their products.
