Russells Construction wins contract at Springbank

Russells Construction has won a GBP 2 million commercial building contract on a 10 month project at Springbank House in Altrincham.

The Trafford Park-based company has now started work on the four-storey extension is due to be completed by February 2010 and will double the size of an office building on Stamford Street.

Russells will also construct additional car parking at the rear of the property.

Andrew Russell, managing director of Russells Construction, said the scheme creates a number of challenges for his team who will build the extension separately before linking it to the existing building, which will remain occupied throughout project.

He said: "It will be very important for us to mitigate the impact of the build upon the tenants of the existing office complex who will continue to use their premises during the construction process.

We take the guidelines of considerate construction very seriously and will run the site accordingly.

"Multi-storey work on such a confined site also raises issues with regards access and in terms of the actual construction which the team has taken into consideration in the careful planning of the build programme".

The Springbank House contract is Russells Construction's latest collaboration with client Property Alliance group.

It comes as Russells completes a GBP 1.5 million deal to bring Aldi to Heywood and, with a GBP 4 million retail park contract in Hull announced earlier this year, Russells has enjoyed a strong first half of the year.
