Russell roof tiles have been used as part of a re-roofing scheme in an urban renewal area in the East Midlands.
The Cottage Red Lothian tiles have replaced existing Rosemary clay tiles on 20 dwellings in the scheme.
The Lothians were chosen by the city council for their unique combination of benefits.
Not only do they give an attractive and authentic plain tile effect but they are also easy to lay and offer a number of environmental advantages in comparison to traditional clay tiles.
The re-roofing project has also made a significant contribution to the appearance and weatherability of the properties.
The Lothian offers the best of both worlds to developers, specifiers and contractors.
Its distinctive shape combines the 'European' styling of a thin leading edge with a robust product that stands up to harsh British weather conditions.
The range also met client and contractors' on-site logistical demands for fast, easy installation with minimum wastage and maximum cost-effectiveness.
Green issues are increasingly important to specifiers and clients, including local authorities.
The Lothian range is manufactured using eco-friendly methods, which require 40% less raw material than traditional plain tiles.
It complements Russell roof tiles' existing Argyll, Galloway and Highland varieties in the Imperial range.
And features a smooth, matt finish in a colour palette of cottage red slate grey, black, terracotta, rustic peat and peat brown to suit varying architectural styles.
The Lothian is part of a wide range of high quality concrete tiles, ridge tiles and systems manufactured by Russell in a choice of colours and finishes to meet the demands of most applications.
Literature is available on request.
The range is manufactured in accordance with the requirements of British Standards EN 490:1994 and EN 491:1994 and is guaranteed for a period of sixty years from the date of supply (subject to the normal terms of guarantee).
