Viessmann surprised by boiler scrappage scheme

A Viessmann product story

Viessmann say they are surprised by Government's plans to introduce a boiler scrappage scheme as the domestic gas boiler market has only fallen by 5%.

Christian Engelke, Technical Director at Viessmann, commented: "We are obviously adding our voice to the growing number of people within the heating industry that fully support the boiler scrappage scheme".

"Any measures that can help drive up the efficiency of the UK's housing stock and lower homeowners heating bills by up to 25% each year can only be good news".

"However, the total domestic gas boiler market has been fairly resistant to the economic downturn, only dropping by 5%".

"Therefore, is this investment from the Government fair in the whole sense of the economy or could it be used more wisely when the boiler market is quite stable?".

"Whilst details of how the scheme will be implemented are still unclear, the scrappage scheme is encouraging for everyone involved in our sector".

"It will also help homeowners focus onto the urgency of the climate agenda, making them realise that changing their old inefficient boiler with a more efficient system can save them a considerable amount of money in energy bills and help the environment".
