Beat rising expense of toxic lead roof flashings

A Redland product story

The global hike on lead prices because of high demand in China and India has made Redland's Rapid Flashing alternative even more attractive.

A recent hike saw lead prices double within only six months.

Go back to a project's costing for any metal in serious volume, and it's very likely to be history.

Redland named its own modern alternative to roofing lead, Rapid Flashing back in 2005, because it is so easy and therefore quick to apply around chimney stacks, dormers and abutments - without any of traditional lead's notorious health risks.

However much traditional charm lead gives to a roof, it comes at a price.

And that price includes its health stigma for the toxic threats to those handling it and from leaking into the water system.

Rapid Flashing presents no medical risks of lead poisoning upon contact, simply because it contains none.

Rapid Flashing also weighs considerably less than lead, making it easier to handle.

So that's good news for the welfare of the contractors.

A roll of Rapid Flashing can be applied directly to the roof, without the need for ancillary items, just scissors or a knife, a ruler and roller from the toolbox.

No welding, additional tape or hot working is required.

Rapid Flashing is so simple that a plumber by trade is certainly not required.

And after first use, customers are claiming it's twice as fast to apply than lead.

What makes Rapid Flashing so easy to use, is a self-fusing fully impervious bond within just 30 minutes to mould quickly around the roof details.

Immediately in place, the UV-resistant material will perform in extremes of hot and cold temperatures ranging between -40degC and 100degC.
