Spaceway fits out Liz Earle's new satellite distribution warehouse

Liz Earle's new satellite distribution warehouse in Ryde, Isle of Wight, has not only enabled the company to consolidate its 'goods in', quality control inspection and archive storage into one area but has also enabled it to turn small warehouses into much needed additional production areas Transformed from a empty shell by Romsey based Spaceway Group, a leading UK provider of integrated interior space solutions, the 16,000 square foot warehouse now comprises of racked warehousing, archive document stores and offices

A leading producer in skin care products, Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare, fulfils and distributes all of its worldwide orders at their headquarters on the Isle of Wight.

From 1995, year on year expansion has necessitated the company increasing its warehousing and storage facilities to four-satellite warehouses and when this proved insufficient for their needs, it resulted in them having to use third-party services.

"We really wanted to be able to continue to fulfil and distribute our own orders so we could maintain our exceptionally high customer service" says Simon Hastain, Fulfilment Manager at Liz Earle.

"The company, therefore decided to acquire a fifth satellite warehouse which had the added bonus of freeing up additional space for production".

Simon Hastain initially contacted a number of local domestic contractors but realising the Liz Earle's busy Christmas season was fast approaching and there would be insufficient personnel to oversee the project he decided to ask Spaceway to undertake the development.

"We had worked with Spaceway on a few minor projects and knew that they had the technical ability and resources to provide us with a complete turnkey operation including project management".

"We asked them to complete the work as fast as possible and they pulled out all the stops and completed whole project in just eight weeks".

After organising the installation of essential services, Spaceway began fitting out the warehouse.

This involved maximising the space by installing a FlooritallO mezzanine floor and then fitting stairways and balustrades for access.

With this completed, Spaceway installed Pallet-Stor racking to accommodate bulk storage and Docu-Stor shelving to create an archive stores area.

Offices and amenities were created using Komfort partitioning.

"We are delighted with the finished project which was completed on time and on budget", concluded Simon Hastain.
