Save energy costs with Salto
New Salto Energy Saving Device can help to save up to 30% of a room's electricity consumption and is compact and quick to install.
Spiralling energy costs and the knock on effect of ever higher utility bills are increasing costs for many building operators, but for those that are prepared to find ways to conserve energy and help their buildings achieve better ratings in the new Energy in Buildings performance directive efficiency Part L legislation, there are significant savings and benefits to be had One way to cut consumption is to fit a site energy management and user-in detection system

The new Salto Energy Saving Device (ESD) can help to save up to 30% of a room's electricity consumption and is compact and quick to install.
It works like this.
When a user enters the room and inserts a key into the ESD, which is located close to the entrance door, it recognises the key as the valid user of that room or equipment and switches on a selection of electrical apparatus in the room.

Salto - security to smile about
New Smile range from Salto is suitable for use when you want to control doors on a site by simple programming from tags, and where no software or computer is required for programming.
When the user leaves the room and the key is removed from the ESD, any electrical equipment (for example lights) connected to the ESD will be switched off.
The connected equipment (circuits) can turn off immediately or be set to remain on for a predetermined time up to 999 seconds after the key has been removed.
The massive savings come from the need of the user to retain their key when leaving the area for use in the accompanying access control system.
Many types of electrical devices can be controlled on the circuits connected to either of the two 16 amp relay outputs and with planning allows for great control over power consumption and use restriction of who can use what in an area.
You now have control of who switches on the lights, air conditioning, heating, plug sockets, cooker, photo copiers, machinery etc, knowing that when the person removes the key and leaves the power will be cut from anything connected.
Because the key that operates the ESD can be programmed as to which of the two relays it can trigger, there are interesting possibilities such as a cleaners key being only able to trigger one relay and say switch on the lights, whilst a staff key may trigger both relays and switch on the lights and the machinery in the room, ultimately saving energy and also adding security.
The Salto ESD is compatible with all main ID technologies including iButton, Contact chip smart cards and RFID contactless Proximity Smart cards.
It will only work with authorized keys, automatically detecting valid ones before switching power on to the connected devices.
So if a user tries to 'jam on' the lights whilst they are out with their business card for example, it will not be recognised.
Main features include a choice of two different finishes to compliment any type of decor, one or two relay outputs, flexible software controlled 'power off' time delay, and a modern blue LED courtesy indicator light that shows the location of the ESD in a darkened room.
A really useful extra is that, in the two relay version, the second relay has a connection for a set of contacts that when broken will switch off the relay and thus anything connected to it.
Since one of the most expensive devices to operate in a room can be the heating or air conditioning unit, by simply fitting the windows with a set of contacts and connecting these to the ESD, the second relay can be switched off immediately when a window is opened, thus saving energy automatically.
The ESD is also available as an On Line connected version, which as well as energy saving indicates in real time whether a room is occupied or empty or a machine is in use, logging the information directly into the controlling PC.
With this information the use patterns of the connected devices can be monitored.
Insertion of a special key can also let the system know in real time that the connected device has become available.
