Access the Brew House with Salto

A Salto Systems product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jul 3, 2008

The Brew House Hotel in Royal Tunbridge Wells has chosen Salto Systems for its secure access control requirements.

The hotel awarded the installation contract to approved Salto business partner; Tonbridge based Styletech Architectural Hardware.

A brand new small boutique hotel owned by entrepreneurs Kevin Spencer and Nick Drees, The Brew House is a totally refurbished and re-developed 18th Century building that has been restored to its former greatness.

Set in the peaceful area of Warwick Park, adjacent to the historic colonnaded walkway of the Pantiles, the property offers 10 individually designed contemporary bedrooms all boasting luxurious features and state-of-the-art communications facilities.

The hotel also offers fine dining and a relaxing bar area with mood lighting and chic furnishings while numerous quirky local boutiques, restaurants and bars are all within a few minutes walk.

"We are delighted to have won this prestigious contract using Salto products which are both a cost effective and elegant solution" says Paul Woodcock of Styletech Architectural Hardware.

"Working in consultation with the hotel owners, a key element of their brief was to provide a total 'one-stop-shop' solution".

"This involved not only designing a clean, modern state-of-the-art access control solution for the comfort and convenience of the guests, but also supplying a complete architectural ironmongery package for the refurbishment of the building".

To achieve this Styletech installed the XS4 electronic smart lock in a brushed stainless steel finish into all the bedrooms as well as back of house doors and service rooms.

And, to control employee access, an online wall reader unit utilising the power of the Salto Virtual Network (SVN) is linked in to the handle sets spreading the access control system further into the building whilst still allowing for on-line access provision where needed.

SVN allows the Brew House Hotel to read, receive and write information to and from its smart staff ID cards and revolutionises the traditional problems associated with 'key' control by eliminating the need to replace locks if security is breached due to the loss or theft of a staff ID card.

And, in addition, SVN's built-in audit trail facility can also be used as a management tool if required to check staff times when arriving at and leaving work.

Owning partner, Nick Drees, says; "We're pleased with the finished installation and with the performance of our new Salto access control system".

"It delivers everything we've asked of it and we also like the fact that it's 'sate-of-the-art' and neatly compliments the contemporary styling of our hotel.".
