The awards night coincided with Isover's successful incorporation, as part of a GBP10million factory investment, of an increase to almost 80% in the amount of recycled glass waste used in the production process.
The recycled material could be post-consumer glass, from housing regeneration projects for example, or it might be reprocessed waste from bottle and flat glass manufacture that would otherwise go to landfill.
The investment was made to help meet the increasing requirements for designers and housebuilders to use insulation materials that not only deliver technical performance but also come with exceptional green credentials, with the BRE Green Guide to Specification a common point of reference.
Building magazine launched the sustainability awards last year to recognise and reward those UK construction businesses at the forefront of sustainability best practice and there were more than 800 industry figures at this year's event at the Park Lane Hilton.
