Stannah help Guildhall meet DDA regulations

A Stannah product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Sep 12, 2008

Stannah Lifts has installed a Stannah platform stairlift in Salisbury Guildhall, an 18th Century, Grade 2 listed building.

Stannah provided the Stairiser as access solution to ensure the Guildhall met the regulations of the DDA.

As a historic public building, open for conferences, weddings, private hire and is also leased to the magistrates, it needs to provide appropriate access to all members of the general public.

However, due to it being a listed building any alternations need to have regard for its listed status, architectural integrity and historic context.

The Stairiser, an inclined platform lift, provides disabled access over an internal staircase within the building.

It is designed to run on a straight rail over the single flight of stairs which extend up from the entrance for disabled access.

The unit folds away flat against the rail when not in use limiting the impact on the aesthetics of the surrounding interior.

Stannah Access Lifts are manufactured in the UK to BS8300 and are part of a range of Stannah products to help meet the requirements of the DDA.

Other products include fully automatic passenger lifts and seated stairlifts.
