Stunning college faculty features new SAPA system
The newly-built faculty of media and performing art has become a dramatic and exciting showcase for Sapa's new RC System Elegance 52 curtain walling, windows and doors.
The newly-built faculty of media and performing arts is one of a number of buildings at Hull College that has become a dramatic and exciting showcase for Sapa's new RC System Elegance 52 curtain walling, windows and doors.
The main building involved in the project features a full-height, curved-on-plan glass wall that creates a strikingly light and spacious interior environment.
Sapa's fabricator Commercial Systems worked closely with the architects for the project, DLA Architecture of Wakefield, to design a new feature cap.
This was extruded by Sapa and used extensively on the curtain walling throughout the project.
The windows were fabricated from Confort 50, a cost-effective, 50mm dual-chamber system that allows large opening vents to be constructed.
As is standard across the RC range, the Confort 50 system also incorporates a cladding adaptor that allowed the side and rear of the buildings to be clad with Kingspan panels to achieve a totally integrated appearance.
Elsewhere in the building project, RC System commercial doors were specified for their ability to withstand the high traffic levels of the college and yet give simple operation and easy long-term maintenance.
Fabricators and installers for the project were Hull-based Commercial Systems International .
