Renders protect Wembley stadium
Strikolith renders and Strikotherm insulated renders have been used extensively throughout Wembley stadium project.
Now the Wembley handover has taken place and the masses will soon be pouring through the turnstiles, its time for the chosen construction products and finishes to start performing.
Strikolith renders have been used extensively throughout the project in a variety of differing situations; Strikotherm insulated render has been used to improve the thermal properties of the stadium; Strikolith basecoats with cement-fibre boards have been used to generate high-impact resistant areas such as around food stalls and walkways; traditional ashlar detailing has been used to break up large elevations, adding character and improving the overall aesthetics of the facades.
All areas of Wembley stadium with Strikolith and Strikotherm render solutions use a specially developed Silicate Baroque textured finish.
This finish has been specially developed for this project to provide an attractive finish with all the properties required of this type of building.
Silicate Baroque is a vapour permeable finish ensuring the facades are able to breathe whilst being easy to clean by power-washing.
Strikolith recommend the regular review of all render facades for maintenance.
At Wembley Strikolith specified a silicate paint solution for added protection.
It may be re-used for the future longevity of the renders.
Strikotherm insulated renders have used a combination of mineral wool and expanded polystyrene solutions.
Strikotherm insulation is coated with GW Plus, a bonding and foundation mortar.
This basecoat has Strikolith reinforcing mesh fine embedded prior to the application of colour primer and the Silicate Baroque finish.
In high impact areas Strikolith has specified high quality basecoat UAP with a top coat of MC strong cement plaster, meshed and finished in the same way as Strikotherm.
These basecoats can be used internally or externally on mineral and synthetic resin bound backgrounds.
In areas of insulated render where a high impact area is needed, the insulation has been covered with a cement-fibre board with a GW basecoat, mesh, primer and Silicate Baroque textured finish.
