SATRA has extended its Notified Body status and testing capabilities under the European Construction Products Directive (CPD) (89/106/EEC).
Korean railway safety benefits from SATRA
SATRA Technology Centre has been working with Roteco which is responsible for testing and inspecting railway products in Korea.
As such, there are now essential characteristics called upon within the directive for evaluation alongside the usual 'Fitness-For-Purpose' specifications.
These essential properties will require testing by either a notified body, such as SATRA Technology Centre, or the manufacturer/EU importer according to product claims which must be tested against specific guidelines.
After assessing these characteristics you will then be required to CE mark your product by following a specific attestation route, which can be a labourious process if you do not know the facts.
As I am sure you are aware this will have a major impact on how we do business.
Yet there has been reluctance on the part of individual governments to inform us of what we need to do to ensure our products are legal to sell within the European Union.
To help you gain a better understanding and to prepare you for the changes I have put together a one-day seminar, to be held on the 29th June 2005, detailing attestation routes, CE marking, Factory Production Control, notified bodies etc, which I hope you will find this of some interest.
