Satra has extended its PPE testing service to include assessment of descender devices by working with the National Lift Tower.

The facility offers 27, 74m and 100m drop shafts.

This new service has been developed following an ongoing demand from businesses to test personal protective equipment to EN 341.

Falls from height remain a common industrial accident causing major injuries and fatalities.

EN 341 is the European standard for Descender devices and includes test procedures that require repeated high level drop tests to assess the descender's ability to absorb energy.

As well as descender devices, Satra offers any specialist test that requires a drop height of up to 100m, for example EN 12841: 2006 which covers rope access systems and rope adjustment devices.

Satra tests and certifies PPE designed to protect against falls from height not only for use as fall arrest but also for the purpose of rescue, mountaineering, rope access and work positioning.

Satra houses its own internal fall arrest pit and external 9m test tower.
