Complete roof access system for the Oval
Safetyworks and Solutions provided the complete roof access system for the new OCS Stand at the famous Oval Cricket Ground.
Refurbishment of the roof access facilities formed part of the large redevelopment project, and for safe movement around the roof, Safetyworks and Solutions installed 1800m of their Easyguard permanent free standing handrails to the roof perimeter.
Galvanised to BS/EN 1461, Easyguard is durable and offers fast assembly, with the base plates fitted with bonded ribbed rubber mats, which include an EPDM foam infill.
The foam infill reduces heat transference to the roof membrane therefore reducing membrane degradation.
With Easyguard being adjustable by up to 250mm, it was levelled to the line of the building and against the falls of the roof improving the aesthetics from ground level, which was a key consideration on this project.
Safetyworks and Solutions also installed 100m of Flexideck walkway system to a standing seam roof in order to allow safe access across the roof whilst protecting the risk of damage to the aluminium sheets.
In addition, Easyguard clamp on handrails were installed to protect personnel using the walkway.
To complete the installation, a combination of 18 Access Ladders with hinged anti-climb shields were manufactured and installed by Safetyworks and Solutions to allow safe access onto many different roof levels.
"We complete many installations within the education sector, and were pleased to provide a premium performance, durable and cost efficient solution on behalf of Brunel University", said Marco Norman, Managing Director of Safetyworks and Solutions.
