Barenburg supplied seeds for wetland areas
Barenbrug's wild flower seed has been used to transform a lagoon into a wildlife area.
Landscapers Pro-Scape selected 100kg of Barflora 1 and three tailor-made mixtures of seed fo areas around the Round House Park housing estate in Norwich.
Pro-Scape's Len Cutchey worked with Barenbrug regional manager Neil Pettican to select seed suited to the site's wetland environment.
Len says, "The seed was needed for the banks of the lagoon and surrounding areas, so Neil visited the site to assess its requirements".
Neil specified four mixtures to meet the various requirements of the site.
Barflora 1 was chosen for its shade tolerance.
The mixture sown around the pond's perimeters is tolerant to the area's fluctuations in water levels and sandy, alkaline soil.
Len says the Barenbrug seeds' performance has exceeded his expectations, "You'd normally expect a three year cycle to see the best from a wildflower area, but we've got good cover already in the first year".
