Scafftag purpose-designed Podium Tagging System

A Scafftag product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jul 20, 2007

Scafftag new tagging system will enable companies that use podiums to display latest inspection, maintenance and identification information at the point of use.

The Work at Height Regulations 2005 apply to all work at height where there is a risk of a fall liable to cause personal injury.

A common misconception is that low-level height work (such as that a podium would be needed for) does not represent a potential hazard.

However, whether it is conventional ladders, step ladders, kick stools ('elephant's feet') or podiums and whether for temporary or fixed access, regular detailed inspections must be carried out and recorded.

The new Podium Tag means that Scafftag now has an even wider range of solutions to help fulfill these legal requirements for equipment falling under the 'ladder umbrella'.

The system uses a unique holder and insert system to ensure the latest status is instantly visible at the point of use.

The specifically designed podium insert includes a quick-reference inspection checklist of all major components.

When electronically chipped, Podium Tags can be used in conjunction with Safetrak, an electronic management tool that shares information on equipment status and controls the workflow between onsite employees and managers using handheld computers (PDAs etc) and specially designed software.

Many companies are now recognising that by standardising inspection and maintenance routines it is possible to have a positive impact on safety, which in turn can have a positive effect on business performance.

Free Poster and NEW Pocket Memo To help you communicate key safety requirements and recommendations in relation to ladders and podiums to employees, Scafftag is giving away a free poster and pocket memo*.

The new ladder poster and ladder and podium pocket memo are invaluable aids to guidance on ladder and podium components and on-site inspection checks.

* One free poster and pocket memo per person, subject to availability.
