Tile Magic shows off Schluter-Systems

Tile Magic's new warehouse-style store is devoting an additional seven times more display space than is normal, for its range from Schluter-Systems.

The 'magic' that finishes and protects tiles has never been more visible than at a new warehouse-style store, which represents a fresh concept for the tiling industry It is prevalent throughout the industry that ancillary products to complete tiled installations are generally not prominently displayed

And where items are on show -- such as finishing and transition profiles, and "behind the scenes" products that provide essential protection to prevent the installation from failing -- the selection is usually limited.

But all that is changing with Tile Magic's new warehouse-style store at Rayleigh in Essex, which is devoting an additional seven times more display space than is normal, for its range from world market-leaders, Schluter-Systems.

"Since we launched this new concept we're finding that people are buying more essential uncoupling and waterproofing membranes to protect installations, as well as more finishing profiles," says Tile Magic Managing Director Chris Ayliffe.

"They not only protect the tiles but make them look more attractive, as well".

"They're products that customers really need for tiled bathrooms and kitchens in particular, but we can't sell them if the customers can't see them".

"Also, we stock enough of each product to make sure most customers can take them home with them immediately".

Schluter-Systems' Technical Manager Ian Knifton says most retailers and stockists will have one stand for these ancillaries.

Tile Magic have eight, giving around ten metres of display space, including information points for technical advice and modules of products in situ".

""They recognise that this new concept has high potential for significant additional profit, as well as giving them a reputation for being able to offer customers expert support".

Tile Magic staff have undergone technical training which will be ongoing, to advise customers on the best way of protecting their installation and achieving a professional finish.

They are also being trained in seeing opportunities for offering products which customers may not be aware of, which are used by the tiling trade every day.

For example, Mr and Mrs Smith are tiling their bathroom floor and may not have thought about finishing the transition between the door and hallway.

Just one question from the sales staff leads to an additional sale and increased profits, and the customer is happy because they have a more professional finish.
