Scape Design Associates is donating time to help create an unique garden at The James Cook University Hospital's Cleveland Assessment Unit in Middlesbrough.
For example, a new comprehensive green roof system planted with sedum to assist with water harvesting is being introduced to the hotel's existing wings, 1500 square metre of solar panels added to the roof for year-round energy and locally quarried limestone for the landscape terraces, imaginatively linking Amfora with the sea and natural landscape.
In addition, all foul water and storm water is being recycled for both drinking water and irrigating planting beds comprising native stock and endemic species Also featured are two outdoor split-level integrated swimming pools.
A central lagoon with planted islands, built-in spa seating as well as infinity edge seating has been imaginatively designed by the landscape architects to cascade in to a children's pool equipped with water-play equipment at lower level.
New dining facilities sympathetically set within the landscape provide key views across the resort out to sea with poolside pavilions at one end and inbuilt seating at upper terrace level for more intimate dining.
The redevelopment also features an outdoor elevator and access for 'all' across the entire site using gently ramps and in-built seating areas.
