Scape Design creates Hospitality Show centrepiece

Scape Design Associates to design landscaped courtyard bar that will form part of the Design Showcase at Hospitality Show 2007.

Award-winning landscape architect Scape Design Associates announce that it has been invited by GS Magazine, host of Design Showcase at Hospitality Show 2007, to design a contemporary and stylish landscaped courtyard bar that will form part of the exhibition's centrepiece.

This innovative space will also offer a much needed design-led exterior, hospitality solution for hoteliers, publicans and restaurateurs following next year's ban on smoking in public places.

In addition, Design Showcase will feature a stunning hotel lobby and reception area that directly links to Scape's courtyard, by interior design firm United Designers, also selected by the magazine to work on this prestigious project.

The lobby, reception and courtyard are set to provide visitors with inspirational, intimate spaces in which to discuss ideas and requirements.

Scape's scheme is based on a striking, sleek, black and white theme enhanced by black and white pebble motifs used to clad the courtyard's central wall and corresponding modern bar counter.

Hand-laid in Indonesia especially for the show, the pebbles provide an imaginative and exciting backdrop to the design, which also includes a raised stage with oversize wicker chairs, framed by twin planters and unique designed-in ashtrays.

Lines of backlit champagne bottles will adorn the wall behind the bar, and hidden speakers will provide funky tunes, enlivening the space even further.

The bar area is being laid out beneath a timber pergola with intertwined canvases covering, and ivy hedge screens and sleek modern planters filled with dramatic feature plants to include Phormium and Astelia, will create an illusion of green walls.

A carpet of rich green Astroturf imaginatively helps provide a garden-like feel throughout.
