Screwfix Direct has just signed a 10-year lease on a second Distribution Centre in the Stafford area.
Screwfix Direct, the UK's leading direct supplier of building, maintenance and refurbishment items to the trade, has just signed a 10-year lease on a second Distribution Centre in the Stafford area Intended to support the needs of its growing UK network of Trade Counters, the 545,570 sq ft site will lead to the creation of approximately 300 jobs initially, with recruitment expected to start in Spring, 2007

With plans to double the number of Trade Counters in the second half of the year, Screwfix Direct will have opened a total of 37 branches by the end of 2006.
Openings are expected to continue at a similar pace for a number of years and the new Distribution Centre will ensure that the company continues to maintain its high levels of customer service.

"We have been delighted with the performance of our semi-automated Distribution Centre at Trentham near Stoke and are confident that the second site will only add further strength to our business." He adds, "Our sales have continued to increase year on year and not only has our catalogue expanded and our website traffic levels increased but the number of active customers and the average order value has also grown".
"The Trade Counters have opened up a further channel for our customers, allowing them immediate access to the entire Screwfix range".
Employing nearly 1,000 people within the recently built Head Office and newly expanded Call Centre in Yeovil, the company also employs a further 500 people at its semi-automated distribution centre in Trentham.
Screwfix Direct Trade Counters can be found in Yeovil, Bristol, Gloucester, Colchester, Crawley, Swindon and Reading in the South of England, as well as Enfield, Luton, Harlow, Croydon and Park Royal in London and Aston, Dudley, Kettering, Stockport, Aintree, Chester, Doncaster, Gateshead, Hull, Middlesbrough, Shrewsbury, Stockport, Trafford Park, and Derby in the North.
