Screwfix regulates its Consumer Unit
ranges
Screwfix is in the process of updating all its Consumer Unit ranges, including those from leading brand names such as Wylex
This is line with the new 17th Edition Wiring Regulations, which will have significant effects on electrical installations As well as stating that all socket outlets should be protected by 30mA RCDs, the regulations state that all circuits in rooms containing a fixed bath or shower should be protected by one or more 30mA RCDs

Designed for professional, light trade use, the new Erbauer Sanders from Screwfix Direct offer durable performance and exceptional value for money.
Similarly, unless earthed mechanical protection is in place, all cables that are buried beneath the plaster surface of a wall partition (at less than 50mm), and cables that are concealed in metal stud partitions, require protection by 30mA RCDs.
To avoid the inconvenience and danger that can be caused by a single fault, the regulations also stipulate that installations should be divided up into separate circuits such as, for example, a lighting circuit.
In addition, installations should be designed and arranged to prevent unwanted tripping of RCDs.
This will invariably mean the use of more RCDs and/or RCBOs.
