Increase parking capacity and security

A Cardok product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team May 18, 2009

Cardok, manufacturer of 'the ultimate in off-road parking', has developed new options that enable parking of up to four cars in the space required for just two, and with increased security.

The number of households with two or more cars has quadrupled in the past 25 years, but the increasing cost of land and growth in brownfield development has created a major issue- where to park them?.

Most recent figures show that almost half vehicle related theft in the UK each year occurs on the street outside the home*- but there is a solution.

Cardok has responded to the challenge with the development of new options that enable parking of up to four cars in the space required for just two, and with increased security.

The Cardok two-vehicle lift is now complimented by Cardok Mono, which accommodates just one car, and Cardok Multi which can take up to four vehicles.

Each deck is guaranteed to support a safe working load of three tonnes, with total lifting capacity of 10 tonnes, enabling it to cope with even a 4x4, luxury saloon or powerboat.

Cardok is engineered to create a secure, watertight 'garaging' environment for the vehicle, but using less surface area and with less visual impact than a garage.

The steel bay on which the vehicle is parked is electro-hydraulically operated to almost silently lower the vehicle underground and maintain the home's frontage.

The unit can be raised and lowered in less than 30 seconds, and remote control operation means the user does not have to go outside or get out of the vehicle to raise the Cardok for use.

Despite its lifting capacity, Cardok uses as little electricity to operate as boiling a kettle of water, and, with its own back-up generator, will always be accessible.

Further, research has shown installation of even a Cardok Mono can add up to 12% to the value of the property, and could significantly reduce vehicle insurance premiums.

The system's lack of visual impact on its environment means that planning consent has often been granted, where permission for a conventional garage would have been refused, even in Conservation Areas.

Cardoks have already been installed in locations as diverse as private homes in Westminster to an upmarket apartment development in Greater Manchester.
