Sandtoft to supply the authentic-looking roof tiles to ensure Queensbury House in Edinburgh is restored to its former glory
The phased development, once complete, will also include a new community centre and a primary school.
The scheme offers ten different house types for purchasers to choose from and it was for this reason, a mix of roof tiles were supplied, including the clay tile; County Pantile, concrete products; Shire Pantile, Calderdale Slate, and finally one of Sandtoft's more recent innovations; the Britlock interlocking slate, which is a lightweight, labour efficient, interlocking slate manufactured from over 80% recycled natural slate waste.
The portfolio of products also met the planner's requirements under PPG3, especially the specification of the Britlock slate.
In addition to the housing development, Allison Homes installed Sandtoft's Double Pantile roof tile at the company's prestigious new head office at Walden Tree Park near Spalding in Lincolnshire.
A dry fix approach for the ridges and hips was used to reduce maintenance costs.
Steve Greenly, Sandtoft's senior area manager for Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire, comments, "Allison Homes has successfully used dry fixings in the past on its developments, particularly on taller properties such as three storey buildings or apartments".
"Sandtoft offers easy-to-install dry roofing systems which can be used in all weathers, thereby reducing installation time, maintenance costs and avoiding the need for lifting wet mortar to the roof.".
