Safeguard's 'Oldroyd' range of cavity drainage membranes has been extended to include three new membranes specifically designed for green roof applications Green roofs are usually specified because of their well-known environmental benefits, so it is essential that the materials used to construct them have a minimal environmental impact

The Oldroyd 'Green' range of membranes benefits from novel 'multi-layer-technology' that allows an inner core consisting over 50% recycled plastic to be sandwiched between two outer layers of virgin material.

The resulting membrane actually shows an improvement in strength over the equivalent membrane manufactured from 100% virgin plastic (rather than the reduction in performance usually associated with the use of recycled plastic).

The Oldroyd Green range consists of three membranes for different types of green roof: - Oldroyd Xv Green - Non-perforated membrane with 6mm-high studs.

Intended for use on pitched green roofs and turf roofs.

* Oldroyd Xv20 Green - Non-perforated membrane with larger 20mm studs.

For pitched green roofs with a shallow growing medium - e.g sedum roofs.

* Oldroyd Xv20 GreenXtra - Perforated version of Oldroyd Xv20 Green.

Intended for use on flat green roofs / roof gardens.

All of the membranes in the range can be specified using NBS section Q37 (Green Roofs).

Specification clauses are available from Safeguard.

A brochure entitled 'Green Roofs - Pitched and Flat' is available from Safeguard.
