New cellar waterproofing and conversion website

A Safeguard Europe product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Oct 18, 2006

Cellars.co.uk is a new website from waterproofing specialists Safeguard Europe that examines the options available to provide a dry, habitable cellar or basement.

With rising land prices and increasing housing densities, many people are looking to refurbish existing cellars or incorporate cellars into new-build properties.

Waterproofing is one of the main elements that need to be addressed when constructing or refurbishing a cellar.

Most existing cellars were built in Victorian times and were never intended to be lived in, so adequate waterproofing was rarely included as part of the original specification.

Newbuild cellars and basements are covered by Part C of the Building Regulations which requires that steps are taken to protect them from dampness entering from the ground.

Cellars.co.uk is a new website from waterproofing specialists Safeguard Europe that examines the options available to provide a dry, habitable cellar or basement.

The website also looks at other factors necessary for a cellar to provide successful living space such as lighting and ventilation.

The site also features a case studies section and an FAQs page covering common questions such as "How much does a cellar conversion cost?".
