Sentinel new Jetflush Survey Kit launched

Sentinel has launched its new Jetflush Survey Kit, designed to be used in conjunction with the Sentinel Jetflush unit.

It will rapidly identify where problems exist within a central heating system due to the build up of scale and corrosion debris.

Installers have been feeding back to Sentinel that whilst they know that jetflushing is a valuable tool for them to use in their day-to-day work, their customers would sometimes feel more comfortable with paying for the additional service if they could be shown exactly why one was needed.

The new Jetflush Survey Kit does exactly this, providing pre and post flush information that will clearly illustrate the benefits of the jetflushing to the system concerned.

The kit includes a Sentinel Turbidity Tube, a conductivity meter a conductivity Standard and a Sentinel X100 Test Kit.

It also includes a Mini Infra Red (IR) Thermometer.

The kit comes with a CD that contains all the user instructions together with a printable Survey Report form that can be personalised by the installer - even adding his logo if required.

A copy of that form can then be left with the customer clearly illustrating the results of the jetflushing activity.

Prior to flushing, a temperature survey of all radiators should be performed using the mini IR thermometer.u A sample of system water is also taken at this stage and the turbidity measured using the turbidity tube provided in the kit.

After flushing the temperature survey is repeated and the effectiveness of the jetflushing process can then be rapidly demonstrated showing the improvements in temperatures across all the radiators.

A further sample of system water should be taken and again the turbidity should be measured, providing a visual indication to the customer of the effectiveness of 'the clean' that has been performed.

If a chemical flushing agent has been used it is important to ensure that this has been sufficiently removed during the secondary flushing process.

The conductivity meter allows you to do this by ensuring the conductivity of the system water after flushing, has returned to a value similar to the mains water supply.

After the jetflushing has been completed, it is essential that the system is inhibited with Sentinel X100 to reduce the risk of further scale and corrosion debris in the system.

Once the Sentinel X100 has been added, confirmation of the correct treatment levels can be made with the Sentinel X100 Test Kit that forms part of the Survey Kit.

Sentinel's Rob Hill says the new Sentinel Jetflush Survey Kit offers a valuable new tool to installers and is a direct response to installers' requests: "We talk to installers on an on-going basis and we found that there was a common theme to feedback about jetflushing".

"Because of the negative effects particularly of some TV programmes recently, some installers were finding that a suggestion to jetflush a system was seen by some customers as an excuse to add cost to the work the installer was carrying out".

"They felt that having something that increased the perceived professionalism of what they were doing and something that would illustrate to the customers both visually and in the form of a survey form that recorded before and after readings that highlighted the benefits of jetflushing in simple terms, would help them to both sell jetflushing to customers and justify it when there were concerns as to whether it was really necessary".

"Initial response to the kit has been very warm from installers, who say it does exactly what it was designed to do".
