Sentinel, the leading UK water treatment specialist, has launched a 'Compliance Pack' to help installers.

Sentinel, the leading UK water treatment specialist, has launched a 'Compliance Pack' to help installers comply with the new Part L Building Regulations which came into force in April last year and which specifically require the use of chemical inhibitors for new build heating systems and when a new boiler is fitted to an existing heating system.

The Domestic Heating Compliance Guide, published by the Government in support of Part L, explains the requirement: "Central heating systems should be thoroughly cleaned and flushed out before installing a new boiler".

"During final filling of a system, a chemical water treatment formulation should be added to the primary circuit to control corrosion and the formation of scale and sludge." In addition, the new Building Regulations state that where incoming mains water exceeds 200ppm, provisions should be made to treat the water to reduce the rate of limescale accumulation.

The handy 'takeaway' Sentinel Compliance Pack contains three of Sentinel's tried and trusted products, which together fulfil these requirements and the new pack is available now from merchants.

The Compliance Pack includes a one-litre bottle of Sentinel's X800 Jetflo - a powerful chemical cleanser designed to remove iron oxide and calcium based deposits from heat exchangers, radiators and pipework.

X800 Jetflo is suitable for use with all commonly encountered metals and alloys including aluminium.

What's more, the product is non-toxic, non-hazardous and wholly biodegradable making it completely environmentally friendly.

Also included is a one-litre bottle of Sentinel X100 Inhibitor, a general purpose treatment giving total protection against scale and corrosion in all types of indirect central heating systems.

It works in water of all qualities from hard to soft, so is equally valuable for use anywhere in the country.

The pack also contains a Sentinel CombiGuard unit, featuring a universal fitting, which was introduced specifically to combat the problems of limescale.

As the mains water passes through the easily fitted, in-line CombiGuard unit, it is dosed with a minute but effective dose of polyphosphate - which is totally safe and approved for use in drinking water.

The polyphosphate suspends the hardness crystals in the mains water, preventing them from attaching themselves to the surfaces of the pipework or components of your heating system.

Once a Sentinel CombiGuard unit has been installed, installers simply need to replace the polyphosphate cartridge once a year to ensure the system remains fully protected - an excellent opportunity to return to a customer's home to service the boiler and switch the cartridge as part of the visit.

Sentinel Sales Manager for the UK and Ireland, John Lynch said: "We have put together the new Compliance Pack to provide specifiers and installers with a single, convenient pack that contains all the products necessary to clean and protect heating systems in line with the new Part L requirements".

"Instead of having to select three separate items they can just choose just one and they can be confident that when they turn up to carry out a job, they'll have everything they need." Full details of this and all the Sentinel product range can be found at on the website or by calling the award winning technical help line on 0800 389 4677 (UK) or 1800 882374 (Republic of Ireland).
