J and S Seddon (Building) has a new Managing Director, following the retirement of Jim Blairs.

J and S Seddon (Building) has a new Managing Director, following the retirement of Jim Blairs Alan Nixon takes over the role of Managing Director of one of the UK's largest family-owned construction companies, from the position of Estimating Director, where he has so far been primarily responsible for winning new business

Jim Blairs is retiring from the position after more than 40 years with the company, but will stay with Seddon (Stoke) - which includes J and S Seddon (Building), J and S Seddon (Painting) and 4m flooring uk - as a non-executive director, on a part-time basis, with special responsibility for the building company.

Alan, 38, has been working for J and S Seddon (Building) since he was 18.

After completing an extensive training programme, including a BSc degree in Quantity Surveying on day release, he worked his way up the career ladder to achieve the role of Director in 2004, having previously held the positions of Chief Estimator and Divisional Director.

The father-of-three takes over a company with its headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent and eight offices across England and Wales, employing almost 400 people.

Alan said: "We have a strong local and regional representation and I intend to concentrate on developing the business, focusing on its strengths as a stable, established company and building on the great progress the company has made in recent years.

"Much of the work we undertake is based on repeat business achieved as a result of ensuring client satisfaction.

"Add to this our continued commitment to training and quality, along with other best practice measures, and we have much to offer clients that depend on delivery and demand a high quality service.
