SES Near The Top At £220m West India Quay

A SES Shepherd Engineering Services product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Dec 12, 2003

At the £220m West India Quay (WIQ) development, in London's Docklands, gangs of SES mechanical and electrical operatives have reached the heady heights of floors 27 and above with their installation.

That's approximately 110 metres high! Working at such altitudes does have its benefits though.

If the teams take a quiet moment they have magnificent panoramic views of the capital, with the Millennium Dome to the East, the infamous 'erotic gherkin' (the Swiss Re's new office) to the West and the magnificent Canary Wharf complex to the front.

SES was selected in September 2002 to install the £21m building services to London's tallest private residential building.

On completion the building will house 152 luxury apartments, 47 serviced apartments, a 301-room four star Marriott Hotel, restaurant facilities and car parking all within the blade-shaped landmark building.

The main contractor on the project is Multiplex Construction UK Ltd, and the developers are MWB Group Plc and Manhattan Loft Corporation.
