SES Complete Heavy Lifts At £35m Durham Project

A SES Shepherd Engineering Services product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jan 12, 2004

Leading UK building services company, SES, recently lifted over 17 tonnes of essential heavy plant equipment in two days at its New College Durham Project.

In total, 35 items were craned on to the roof of the new four-storey Further Education (FE) Building comprising boilers, air handling units and water tanks.

These items form part of the company's £6.2m building services contract and mark the start of the mechanical and electrical first fixes in to the building.

Situated at the Framwellgate Moor Campus, the £35 million development is being conducted in two phases.

The FE Building forms part of Phase A, which also includes the development of a modern Technology Building that opened as scheduled in December 2003.

Phase B of the works will see the development of a contemporary Sports, Music and Dance Building, which will be ready for use by the students and teachers at the start of the September 2005 term.

The principal contractor for the development is HBG Construction.
