Nine apprentices from leading building services company SES were given fully accredited IPAF and CPCS training given live at SED 2004 - The National Event for Construction.

Nine apprentices from leading building services company SES flew high over the crowds recently at SED 2004 - The National Event for Construction.

The apprentices were given the opportunity after Nationwide, the UK's No.1 powered access supplier, invited the company to provide operatives for fully accredited IPAF and CPCS training to be given live at the show.

Over the three days thousands of people watched as Nationwide's qualified trainers put the SES apprentices through their paces on self propelled booms (G45/25).

The accredited training included a morning session covering theory of the safe operation of powered access equipment and written test, followed by a practical afternoon session of pre-operational responsibilities and assessment.

This included the completion of a challenging course of tight turns and full boom operational manoeuvres whilst onlookers were given a running commentary of their every move.

SES National Training Manager, Christine Wright, who organised the apprentices said: "Nationwide kindly invited us to provide operatives for their training sessions at SED 2004 and we were delighted to accept.

We felt this was an ideal opportunity for a selection of our apprentices to be accredited on powered access equipment.

And further more I am proud to say all nine of them passed the test.

This now means they have achieved their PAL licence and can operate this type of equipment over the next 5 years, which is of great benefit to them and the company.".
