SES pioneers safety with interactive DVD
SES is staying one step ahead of the safety game with the launch of its own Health and Safety Induction and Awareness DVD.
Leading building services company SES is staying one step ahead of the safety game with the launch of its own Health and Safety Induction and Awareness DVD Having become the first Building Services Company in the UK to be accredited to OHSAS 18001:1999 standard by the British Standards Institute in 2003, the company is continuously looking for ways to improve its levels of site safety and safety awareness, which are already exceeding the industry standard

The introduction of a DVD will ensure that the most up-to-date legislation and working procedures can be communicated to the workforce to ensure that SES continues its exemplary safety record.
The DVD has modules that can be selected individually or shown as a whole, allowing a comprehensive yet tailored site induction, which can be given to every site operative.
Topics covered within the DVD include: Working Safely; Work at Height; Plant and Vehicles; Openings and Excavations; Electrical Awareness; Welding; Slips, Trips and Falls; Manual Handling; COSHH; and Noise and Hand Arm Vibration.
The design of the production, which was filmed primarily at the recently completed Stockley Academy in Middlesex and the highly anticipated Darlington Education Village, enables further modules to be added in line with new legislation and policy developments.
A number of SES staff and site based operatives took part in the filming, each one discussing what safety means to them and how they apply safe working procedures to their daily work on site.
Thought to be one of the first building services companies to produce such a DVD, this is another example of SES' commitment to health and safety at work.
Initial feedback following the release of the DVD has been incredibly positive, from both SES personnel and also Principal Contractors.
Tony Sidwell, Company Health, Safety and Environmental Manager, commented, "At SES we believe the secret of good safety management is to remain one step ahead".
"Along with our safety record and accreditations, we are hoping that the DVD will promote and increase safety awareness, further reduce accident numbers and create a safer working environment for all".
