SES reaches final phase at Birmingham

As the services get tested to ensure viability, and to capture and resolve any technical issues, the finishing trades are now well under way with the final stages of the restoration.
The prestigious Town Hall in the centre of the city is nearing completion of its two year £35m facelift , which is being funded by Birmingham City Council, the Heritage Lottery Fund and the European Regional Development Fund.
Working closely with principal contractor Wates Construction and English Heritage, SES is sympathetically installing modern services whilst retaining many of the Hall's original features.
SES has contributed a number of innovative solutions throughout the design and installation phases of this contract, and specialist issues such as acoustics have been carefully approached to ensure that 21st century technologies can be installed unobtrusively, and in keeping with the original design of the Grade 1 listed Hall.
The Great Organ, which has been extensively restored, has now been unveiled; a further signal towards the completion of the project.
The restoration of the Town Hall will return this favourite city landmark to the centre of Birmingham's thriving cultural scene.
It will re-open in October 2007 with a broad range of events designed to welcome everyone.
