SES gets wired at GBP22m DigitalCity initiative

SES has been awarded the MandE contract to install building services for two brand new buildings forming part of the University of Teesside's DigitalCity initiative.

Leading building services provider SES has been awarded the GBP3.5m MandE contract to install building services for two brand new buildings forming part of the University of Teesside's DigitalCity initiative.

The GBP22m investment by the University will see the building of an Institute of Digital Innovation and a Centre for Creative Technologies.

These major developments for the City will provide showcase facilities for students, staff and partners to the scheme, which aims to build a world-class reputation for creativity and excellence in areas such as computer animation, computer games development, digital design and digital media.

SES is working with principal contractor HBG Construction and consulting engineers Arup on the scheme, and is due to commence work in November.

Steve Joyce, Operations Director at the Company's North East office, commented, "This is technically a very exciting project to be involved in, with cutting-edge design techniques and innovation applied throughout the buildings.

I am equally delighted to be continuing our association with the University of Teesside and contributing to the commercial regeneration of the Tees Valley.

Anticipating the start of the construction work, University Vice Chancellor Professor Graham Henderson said "This development is the culmination of a great deal of hard work by many people over the last four years.

Together these two buildings will make Teesside a premier location for both studying digital media and technology and for creating new digital businesses.

They will put Teesside on the global map in the digital age.".
