Sureset Leads Way To Longleat's Adventure Castle

A Sureset product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jul 23, 2004

At the Adventure Castle at Longleat, buff coloured Sureset, perfectly replicated the appearance of traditional golden gravel without any of its inherent problems.

The Adventure Castle at Longleat is now a well-established visitor attraction within the estate complex but for some years Attractions Manager Tim Bentley has had problems with the pathways leading up to and encircling the castle.

Originally surfaced with gravel and surrounded by trees and areas of woodchip the only way the pathways could be maintained was by constant raking.

This problem was exacerbated in the autumn by additional damp leaves that couldn't be swept away, consequently the area never looked as tidy as management would have liked.

The gravel paths were also susceptible to puddling and unsatisfactory for wheel and pushchair access.

In hot weather dust was an additional visitor nuisance.

Tim Bentley considered a number of solutions, including brick paving and printed concrete but he eventually settled for Buff coloured Sureset, as it perfectly replicated the appearance of traditional golden gravel without any of its inherent problems.

He comments: 'The surface is proving to be successful and has meant we are able to keep the whole site much tidier than before, with no dust problems in hot weather and nu puddle problems when wet.

The surface appearance is very pleasing to the eye which raises the overall quality of the site in general.' Sureset is a clear resin bound paving system that is flexible and resistant to cracking.

Natural gravel, as used at Longleat, recycled glass in an assortment of colours, imported marble or even crushed CD's are amongst the 1,000 plus formulae available.

The crystal clear resin enhances the colour of the aggregates; regardless of type, and the versatility of Sureset gives clients the additional freedom to use it in intricate patterns.

Application possibilities are endless but the system has already been used extensively for access roads and carparks, driveways, pedestrian areas, footpaths and cycleways, tree pits, patios and pool surrounds.

The features Sureset offers are second to none and come with a guarantee recently extended to seven years for all materials.

Sureset provides a nationwide supply and aly service for the larger contract and for designers and specifiers comprehensive data in PDF format can be downloaded fro the company's website.
