Based on the response of readers, Norske Interiors, suppliers of Mermaid Shower Wall Panels have been awarded top product by Professional Heating and Plumbing Installer magazine for 2005.
Mermaid is the leading brand of shower wall panel in the UK and Norske distribute it through a network of over 800 bathroom retailers.
Mermaid HPL (high pressure laminate) Shower Wall Panels were originally designed in Scandinavia where they have been used in bathrooms and shower enclosures for over 35 years.
The smooth and durable surfaces of Mermaid Shower Wall Panels are complimented with a newly extended range of 42 contemporary designs that offer customers a luxurious ambiance in bathroom and shower areas.
In 2003 Norske and Sealux met to discuss the possibility of designing a waterproof sealing system for the joint between the bottom edge of the Mermaid Shower Wall Panel and the adjacent shower tray or bath ledge.
The British Standards call the joint between the ledge and wall a 'movement joint' because it may expand or contract due to drying shrinkage, weight deflection, thermal expansion, settlement etc Seal flexibility and durability were therefore absolute essentials.
Other goals were to minimize seal maintenance and improve the aesthetics of the seal after prolonged use in the hostile shower environment.
Sealux patented several movement joint seals for installation with ceramic tiles and lightweight PVC shower wall cladding, adapting this technology for the more robust Mermaid Shower Wall Panels resulted in a new profile called Transeal.
Transeal was launched in 2004 and is now distributed exclusively by Norske.
Transeal meets the recommendations of the British Standards and not only addresses the issues of flexibility and durability in the shower environment, but improves the long term aesthetics by minimizing the exposed sealant face and consequently the necessity for seal maintenance.
By including Transeal in the Mermaid Product Specification and Installation Procedure, Norske have taken control of how and what seal is installed with Mermaid Shower Wall Panels, raising the technical and aesthetic benchmark of the package which in turn will maximise new project opportunities and deliver higher long term consumer satisfaction with the end product.
Happy customers create sales.
Customers evaluate their new installation as a package.
The seal is connected with the performance of the Shower Wall Panel and is therefore a critical component that should not be ignored or left in the hands of cowboys.
By taking the lead and integrating Transeal into the Mermaid package, Norske have grasped the opportunity to improve their product offering and differentiate themselves and their products from those of their competitors.
