Remote monitoring of LPG tanks
Remote monitoring of LPG tanks (liquid petroleum gas) using GSM and PSTN technology.
It is important that the liquid petroleum gas ("lpg") supply network does not run out of lpg and also that the storage tanks are able to supply sufficient lpg on demand This can be managed by hardware manufactured by Sentry Telemetry

Better management of LPG inventories
In today's uncertain financial climate with fuel prices edging ever higher, there is a real need for better management and tighter control of LPG inventories at bulk storage facilities.
Metered estate monitoring is needed for a variety of reasons.
As well as the two points noted above meter readings must be monitored for regular, accurate billing.
To do this reliably, tank levels, multi-point pressure readings and meter readings must be taken.

This monitoring can be carried out manually but, at best, the observations are only a snapshot in time when the technician is onsite.
These manual checks can be an expensive option and, by installing remote monitoring equipment, it is the equivalent of having an onsite technician available every minute of every day.
By installing automatic monitoring equipment on metered estates, technician visits to site are vastly reduced and the equipment cost will be rapidly recovered.
The collected information allows significantly improved monitoring and early warning of potential problems.
Sentry Telemetry is a leader of remote monitoring installations for metered estates worldwide, and manufactures and supplies pressure sensing, level reading and meter reading equipment specifically for this application.
"Ever improving technology, increased volumes and falling component costs, has enabled this essential management tool to be within everyone's budget with rapid capital payback." Comments John Hilbrig, GM of Sentry Telemetry, "Installation is easy and with instant data retrieval from remote sites, maintenance and metering issues can be dealt with immediately." Pressure sensors, tanks levels, temperature and meters are monitored continually, information is logged, stored and sent at regular intervals to a central database for performance review and early warning of impending problems.
If the tank pressure or levels are too low, an alarm is sent immediately to the central office and/or text messages sent to nominated mobile phones.
Data from all of the sensor points is sent via low power radio to a GSM data communicator that, in turn, sends the data using low cost text messages (SMS) on the mobile telephone network.
Should a GSM network not be available, for example in remote or mountainous regions, then the Sentry Satellite system or PSTN system using telephone lines can be used for alternative data transport.
The key to successful installations is flexibility.
Not all sensors need to be installed initially, and it may be that extra tanks, pressure sensors or consumer meters will need to be added at a later stage.
The chosen system should be able to expand to cover future requirements.
The Sentry data communicator will accommodate significant expansion and fast installation.
Sentry Telemetry started monitoring LPG tanks in 1997 and have now progressed to be a leading worldwide authority on radio, GSM, GPRS and satellite technology that can be integrated into a vast array of M2M solutions for business, industry and home.
Sentry Telemetry design, develop, supply and install a diverse market range of remote monitoring, telemetry, control and sensing equipment based around low cost proven communications devices.
In addition to supplying off the shelf products and engineered solutions, Sentry Telemetry also provide services such as software and web hosting of data.
