Stroma appointed to ensure regulation compliance

A Stroma product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Mar 2, 2010

Stroma has been commissioned to provide design consultancy, structural fire protection, air sealing and air-tightness testing for Lincoln Minster School.

Selected for its ability to advise on and physically implement compliance works, Stroma has been appointed by Quibell and Son to help attain the building regulations compliance of the music school and sports hall.

Stroma's work on this development commenced with the provision of Fire Protection services.

In compliance with building regulations Part B, the steel structures of the music school and sports hall required a fire rating of up to 60 minutes.

Being BRE Accredited Fire Protection specialists, Stroma Contracting offered design consultation, column and beam encasement and Intumescent Painting.

Stroma Technology then provided a comprehensive design review of the building.

Stroma's architectural technologists established a robust air-barrier strategy and identified areas of potential air leakage.

In locations where additional air-sealing was warranted, Stroma Contracting surveyed the scope of work and offered comprehensive solutions to meet the requirements.

Following the successful completion of Stroma Contracting's works, Stroma Technology Engineers then returned to the site to discuss and inspect preparations for final air-tightness testing.

Stroma is due to perform UKAS accredited air-tests in March 2010, when construction work is complete.
